Why Does Humanity Exist?
the answer to the BIG question and the true purpose of our lives here on Earth
What is bigger than the question of “where did the cosmos come from” and “why are we here”? Philosophers and religions have spent much time pondering this question. An interesting post entitled “How Humankind Came to Be” by Master Li Hongzhi appeared on minghui.org (LINK) and came to my attention. Click on the link to see the original words. It’s caused quite a stir across the universe.
Remember, everything I’m sharing with you here is my understanding and yours may differ.
First, I won’t talk about any particular religion, there are many upright and righteous religions and I’m not here to change anyone’s belief. You will find much of what I’m discussing agrees with what many religions promulgate. In fact, seeing things in a new way is how people have always enlightened and you will likely find this article of great value whatever you believe. Let’s focus on the big picture and be responsible to everyone, as well as to society at large.
Why did Master Li publish his article now? The third sentence in the article reveals the reason:
“Every word reveals heavenly secrets, and the purpose is for people to know the truth and be given another opportunity to be saved.”
In my understanding, we are at a critical point where people truly need salvation. Our society is literally falling apart by the day and everything is disintegrating, everyone can see this for themselves.
We have arrived at the point where everyone must choose their future path. This is actually a timeless concept which in one instance was presented by Spanish priests to illiterate indigenous people through church paintings and murals in Peru. The path to Hell is lined with ease and pretty flowers, but the path to Heaven is filled with tribulations and obstacles. It’s true: things are simple at higher levels. It’s when we are down “in the mud that it’s hard to tell the difference between pearls and fish eyes”.

Aristotle said tragedies all had “a beginning, a middle and an end”, and our cosmos is no different. Many of you can sense it and we are perilously near the point where the cosmos will disintegrate and all lives will be destroyed. Everyone can see the moral character of society is at an all time low with rampant drug abuse, sexual promiscuity and many people no longer believe in God. It’s quite dangerous.
People have a soul and this soul continues living after the death of a person. But if the cosmos ceases to exist, where would these souls go? They would disappear into the void and everything would be gone in an instant. In my understanding, this was the fundamental problem that had to be solved and hence the need for The Creator to make Earth (the three realms; earth, heaven and the underworld) as a path to the new cosmos, which He created.
Here on Earth, we exist in the “Realm of Desire”, the lowest level. Earth was created for one purpose — for us to return to our original, true selves and to return to where we came from. It’s the most difficult place, where lives are short, temptation abounds and suffering is around every corner. Everything here on Earth is inverted from Heaven. What people think is good, could actually be bad and what is thought of as bad might be good.
As an example, no one enjoys suffering, but in fact this is how everyone pays back their karma. The worst environment turns out to be the best place to cultivate your self, raise your level and return to your proper place in the new cosmos. Everything in the cosmos follows the law of gain and loss. Amid this suffering, if you can manage to keep calm and kind, you will gain merit and virtue. This is what the ancients understood; earning and preserving virtue was considered the most important thing in life. “Safeguard your virtue” was more than a saying — it was a way of life in the past.
Why put humans in the lowest level? In my understanding, only the most difficult environment is suitable for cultivation, the elevation of a human being. If a person can correctly choose between good and evil, pay back their sins and follow traditional values in this terrible environment, then they can elevate to very high levels. So it turns out that being in a difficult environment is beneficial for a person to return to their original, true self. As Master Li said,
“Suffering enables one to cultivate; suffering allows one to atone for sins and karma. Amid suffering, if one can still remain kind, be grateful, and be a good person, one is elevating oneself.”
According to the article, The Creator has been remaking the universe while saving beings. People descended from high levels to Earth for this purpose; if they can keep their faith in the divine while remaking themselves in this terrible environment, they can be saved back to the heavenly kingdoms. That’s our home.
“Falun Gong practitioners from around the world gathered on Governor's Island in New York City to form a large Falun emblem (what is a Falun, literally translated as law-wheel, emblem?) and the Chinese characters of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance on Saturday, May 18, 2019. The scene was solemn and impressive. (from Minghui.org)”
5,000 people made this amazing formation. I was in the center srivasta in the red, below the top arm, one tiny particle like an atom. Srivasta is an ancient symbol of Buddhahood attainment status, known for many thousands of years in different cultures. It also contains four taiji (yin-yang symbols). Falun is itself a world. These events and symbols can help people remember and that is fundamental to enlightenment and raising levels.
The true purpose of life isn’t to collect material items or “wealth” (which you get by exchanging your virtue), the real wealth is inside your self; it’s your virtue that leads to your elevation. As for gains and losses, the universe takes care of these and the saying “you reap what you sow” is more than an idea, it’s actually embodied in your virtue. This concept is embeded in many religions. The Bible says:
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to the flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.“ Galatians 6:7-8.
For humans, building up blessings and virtue during their life is indeed the path to return to Heaven. What are we here for, after all if not to improve ourselves and return to our Home?
I highly recommend this article, go read it now.
From Wiki: Domenico Zipoli (1688-1726) was a composer from the Baroque period. He worked and died in Córdoba, in the Viceroyalty of Peru, Spanish Empire, (presently in Argentina). He became a Jesuit in order to work in the Reductions of Paraguay where he taught music among the Guaraní people. He is remembered as the most accomplished musician among Jesuit missionaries.
